so, um, whose father just purchased a maroon mazda miata convertible with leather interior? well, yeah, that would happen to be my father. and, you know, since he already happens to have a perfectly working, nice looking, reasonably new toyota camry, who is going to have that car? well, that person just might be me. in fact, i'm absolutly positive it is me!

whee! i have a car! i have a car! i have a car!

now i just need 8 more hours of supervised driving and a drivers license...

omg, the pre-choir camp party is going to be super awesome. i just bought these ICE CREAM SANDWICH MAKERS at williams sonoma (my favorite store!!! well, maybe not, but its definitely up there...) http://ww1.williams-sonoma.com/cat/pip.cfm?src=pipcsalckgi%7Cgsku6108138%7Ck%7Cpcsalckgi%7Crshop%7Cs%2Fcatcsalckgi%7Cp1%7Crshop%2Fcatcsalotri%7Cp1%7Crshop%2Fcatcsali%7Cp1%7Crshop%2Fhme&root=shop&pkey=csalckgi&gids=sku6108138&ftest=1&cmreferrer=http%253A%252F%252Fww1%252Ewilliams%252Dsonoma%252Ecom%252Fcat%252Findex%252Ecfm%253FCID%253Dsalckgi%2526src%253Dcatcsalotri%25257Cp1%25257Crshop%25252Fcatcsali%25257Cp1%25257Crshop%25252Fhme&flash=on

and then my mom was thinking that we could decorate bird houses, which i think would be fun and really cute!! and obviously we'll all sit around and talk about our summers, and maybe watch a movie or something.

OMG, I WENT FURNITURE SHOPPING WITH MY MOM AND DAD THIS WEEKEND AND WE BOUGHT SOOOOO MUCH STUFF!
ok, so my dad and i bought him a dark brown leather armchair, which he's wanted for YEARS. then my mom and i went out and bought four sofas, two for our tv room, and two for this random side room that is about 10 feet wide and up until now has served very little purpose, but will soon be a sitting room/reading room with the two bookshelves we also bought!
and also, the weekend before this past one, my mom and i bought a teak table, umbrella, and chairs for our outdoor deck (which my mom spent weeks stripping and staining last summer).
basically, for the first time in my life, my house is actually going to look somewhat put together (ignore the HIDEOUS lamps and the DISGUSTING tiles in the kitchen). honestly, the sofas we've had all my life are REALLYREALLY OLD! my mom said that my grandmother bought one used when my mom was a kid, my mom got it when she went to grad school and reupholstered it to make it decent, and now we've had it with that upholstery since then. its VILE--BUT SOON, IT WILL BE DESTROYED, THROWN OUT, TOSSED ON THE CURB NEVER TO BE SEEN OR SAT ON AGAIN!

the only problem (other than the fact that my dad is really freaked out about us spending this much money, even though it was very necessary and very well spent. oh well, he'll get used to it.) is that my dog will very likely eat half the furniture. damnit.

schedule, etc [Aug. 9th, 2005|02:00 pm]
[Current Mood | anxious]

ok, so i havent actually gotten my schedule in the mail yet, but when i went to meet with miss durkay last wednesday, i visited ms. heatwole and got it from her then.

1: Choir
2: Forms of Drama
3: AP Bio
4: BC Calculus
5: Lunch
6: Anatomy and Physiology
7: RINAP

ok, so other than the RINAP, which i was hoping would be advanced ceramics, i got exactly what i wanted. and now with rinap, i have two free periods second semester, during which i can take light, fun, non-academic classes...if i choose to do so. however, the addition of rinap basically means that what was an intensely academic, but really fun, schedule (no history or language, but two sciences (one ap), ap bc calc, speranza english, choir, and ceramics as a break) is now a ridiculously intense (hello! all that PLUS rinap!) but still mostly fun schedule. oh boy. if i wasnt looking forward to 5 of these classes (counting choir as a class) and climbing so much, i could honestly kill myself now and get it over with. because oh yeah, i didnt mention that i'm also head chorister, president of arts board, president of encore club, and president of math club, and even though most of those are historically non-active leadership positions, if you know me well enough, you'll know that i am NOT going to let them not matter. i have sooo many plans for each of them, and honestly, they matter enought to me that i am willing to lose a lot of sleep over making each detail perfect! AND OH WAIT, I FORGOT ABOUT COLLEGE APPLICATIONS!!!!

all in all, i am going to die of stress this semester!

forwarded to me by crazy aunt [Aug. 2nd, 2005|01:38 pm]
[Current Music |prokofiev cello sonata]

I am not sure exactly how it works, but this is amazingly accurate.
Read the full description before looking at the picture.

The picture below has 2 identical dolphins in it. It was used in a case
study on stress level at St. Mary's Hospital

Look at both dolphins jumping out of the water. The dolphins are
identical. A closely monitored, scientific study of a group revealed
that in spite of the fact that the dolphins are identical; a person
under stress would find differences in the two dolphins. If there are
many differences found between both dolphins, it means that the person
is experiencing a great amount of stress.

Look at the photograph and if you find more than one or two differences
you may want to take a vacation.

wow, lots of caffeine this morning. 1. really really really strong drip coffee from starbucks 2. grande caramel espresso light frappuccino from the same starbucks.

i honestly havent felt the effects of caffeine in two years at least--diet coke only keeps me up at night because of the carbonation and i drink coffee in the morning because i like it and out of habit. but honestly, i'm a bit shaky now and think i'm getting a headache. whoa.

anyways, my nih poster for the "summer student poster presentation day" is printed and ready to go. i have to say, its VERY pretty and colorful and happy, even though its about 1/2 my work and 1/2 my mentor's additions/changes. oh well, the pretty parts are still mine...^_^

Your humor has an intellectual, even conceptual slant to it. You're not pretentious, but neither are you into what some would call 'low humor'. You'd laugh at a good dirty joke, but you definitely prefer something clever to something moist.

You probably like well-thought-out pranks and/or spoofs and it's highly likely you've tried one of these things yourself. In a lot of ways, yours is the most entertaining type of humor.

wow, the first intelligent thing he's done in his life! congratulations!
well, maybe not so intelligent on his part, seeing as he's lost the support of the religious right wing pro-lifers, but hey, it works out in my (my being our being the liberals) favor, seeing as he probably needs their support to win the 2008 election, so i really dont have a problem with his decision one way or the other!

ny times "Maine May Consider, for a Third Time, a Gay Bias Question" [Jul. 27th, 2005|10:07 am]
[Current Mood | frustrated]
[Current Music |gibbons second service]

http://www.nytimes.com/2005/07/27/national/27maine.html

so apparently people in maine object to adding sexual orientation to their civil rights law which prohibits discrimination based on age, sex, race, color, marital status, religion, ancestry or national origin. so essentially they want to continue for DISCRIMINATION against gay people to be legal. things like this make me sick. one of the conservatives opposed to the law, paul madore, said that "This is a bad law. It uses the weight of the legal system to force an acceptance of a lifestyle that the majority of people have a strong objection to." the law isn't fucking making them accept gay people (though it would be NICE if they would at least try to accept at least the fact that some people are just DIFFERENT!!!!!) it would just make it illegal for them to PERSECUTE the people!!! honestly, it bothers me that they can't accept homosexuality, but i can't tell them what to think. you see, i object to THEIR homophobic, self righteous, closed minded lifestyle the same way they object to a homosexual lifestyle, but I'M not going to infringe on their human rights, so if they want to be homophobic in the privacy of their own thoughts and homes, so be it!! but honestly, does it have to be legal for them to publicly scorn/humiliate/persecute other human beings?! gay people are still people, and the fact that there are people who think that they can take away their BASIC HUMAN RIGHTS based on such a personal and private matter like sexual orientatiion makes me ill.

i'm probably just about the only person in the world who would be sad to see fruit stickers go, possibly because i have a strange obsession with sticking them on my pants. of course, this proves dificult when washing said pants and, after removing them from the dryer, finding fruit stickers melted on. not that i mind, of course...

but honestly, what kind of moron cant get the sticker off their apple?
